Who Are You?
You are a Dynamic Family parent in need of consultation from an experienced Architect and Dynamic Family mom. You are finding it difficult to implement your newly established Dynamic Family situation, or you need some input on how to optimize your dwelling, and you’re searching for some new perspective on how to solve these challenges.
You want me to take a plunge into your home and specific housing challenges, knowing I will be happy to help you for a reasonable fee.
Define the problem:
The first phase in any home improvement project is to define the problem or problems. Are you faced with challenges about the logistics of housekeeping, or do you need to rethink your entire dwelling? The different levels of a home improvement project are illustrated in the table of conventions which you can find here. As illustrated the projects go through the phases of defining the problem, planning the solution, and implementing the plan. Naturally it’s during the planning phase I might be of assistance to you.
Level 1:
Some area of your house has become an eyesore for you and your family and needs some positive attention. You want some input on how to decorate, furnish, creatively reuse, repair or invest in new stuff.
Level 2:
You need help to reorganize your stuff in order to get your Dynamic Family Home in working order. You seek help from an experienced Dynamic Family parent on any logistical or organizational challenges you might have.
Level 3:
Some area of your house needs a makeover. You intend to remodel and need a professional opinion and help to find the right surface solutions for you and your Dynamic Family Home (paint, tile, colors, surface materials).
Level 4:
The building structure, plumbing or wiring is outdated or unsuitable for your needs and tastes, and you plan to renovate your house, kitchen or bathroom. You seek professional guidance in order to make the right decisions for your family.
Level 5:
Your family has outgrown your house and you need professional help to make completely new Dynamic Family house-plans, and possibly make an extension or add-on.
What You Do:
Step 1:
- Identify specific needs, house plan dilemmas, organizational challenges etc. Write down your wishes and demands, dreams and ideas.
- Describe your current situation; be sure to include relevant information about your family and your house, what areas of your Dynamic Family Home you see as problematic, in addition to drawings of your house (or problem area) and lots of pictures.
- Communicate this information to me for instance via e-mail or regular mail (I live in Norway so postal services might take some time). I will give you my postal address if you just pop me an email asking for it.
Step 2:
- Receive and review my offer and, by accepting it, making a payment for half of the fee (thereby also accepting my specific requirements if there are any).
- Providing supplementary photos, measurements, floor plans, etc. at my request (this will be specified in my offer as a requirement).
Step 3:
- Study my suggestions and give me feedback as to their usefulness, allowing me to make adjustments in my project documentation. (This point will be repeated until you are completely satisfied with the result!)
Step 4:
- Receive the final documentation from me. Make a payment for the remainder of the agreed upon fee.
- Implement our joint vision into action. Do It Yourself or coordinate professional services at your own leisure.
Step 5:
- I would greatly appreciate it if you send me “after”-pictures of how your resolved situation is looking. (I reserve the right to present your case study at my site, for the benefit of my readers, and I claim copyright to all documentation that I have produced or used in the case study unless otherwise stipulated. However; your identity will NOT be revealed without your written consent.)
What I Do:
Step 1:
- Review your case and send you by e-mail or post a binding and specific price estimate and time frame for doing this job for you, including my CV and diploma proving that I am a certified architect.
- Making a request for necessary supplements to your documentation. (You pay nothing until this point.)
Step 2:
- Plunge into your specific challenges with all my experience and professional assets at your disposal, making suggestions for resolving your problems, presenting you with this in writing, drawings and perhaps pictures of relevant examples to illustrate my points.
For example:
- New floor plans with suggestions on how to reorganize your house (perhaps your problem can be solved simply by tearing down or putting up a few walls, or moving around the functions to better suit your needs).
- Studies of some problem area (any area you want input on how to decorate, furnish, reorganize, remodel, renovate or rebuild).
- A preliminary project for an extension or complete restructuring of your house (plan, section and elevation, area plan).
- Valuable advice on your logistical dilemmas.
Step 3:
- Study your feedback to my suggestions, making necessary adjustments in my project documentation. (This point will be repeated until you are completely satisfied with my answer; this is internet architectural services at its best!)
Step 4:
- Present your case at my Dynamic Family Home site for the benefit of my readers.
In your initial letter, please include some images of your house or problem area, a description of your family, and links to blogs or magazines that inspire you.
