PHASES OF THE HOME IMPROVEMENT PROCESS
| The phases and the types of projects |
Phase 1 Define the problem |
Phase 2 Plan the solution |
Phase 3 Do the job |
|
Level A Maintenance
|
A1 Some area or item of your house has become an eyesore, and needs some positive attention. |
A2 Make a schedule for doing the work; driving away the trash etc. Plan the decor, colors and repair. |
A3 Clear out the mess; declutter, clean, buy something nice or reuse what you have. |
|
Level B Reorganisation
|
B1 Your storage systems are not rational. You are wasting time on unimportant stuff. |
B2 Make better systems and organise everything you own. Make plans for your logistical issues. |
B3 Buy items suitable for storage, chuck out the rest. Reorganise your life as planned. |
|
Level C Remodeling
|
C1 The paint is coming off the walls; the old linoleum has seen better days. You want a renewal. |
C2 Make a plan for remodeling the room or area of the house. Choose style, colors, and materials. |
C3 Strip off the old stuff and throw it away; buy new paint etc. Paint or tile yourself or hire contractors. |
|
Level D Renovation
|
D1 The ceiling is drooping; the floor plan isn’t satisfactory; the kitchen or bathroom needs a makeover. |
D2 Plan the renovation. Get a second opinion about the damages, prices, possibilities. |
D3 Tear down the old building structures, do the carpentry yourself or hire contractors. |
|
Level E Rebuilding
|
E1 Your house has become too small for you and your family. You need to rethink all of it. |
E2 Make a list of your demands and wishes. Hire an architect or make plans yourself. |
E3 Administrate the building process. Hire contractors and/or do part of the job yourself. |
