about

Here’s me; an architect and dynamic family parent. I have my home in the middle of Norway where I live with my adorable family of seven. Well, only six under the same roof now that the oldest boy is now grown-up and lives elsewhere.

I’ve been an architect since 1993 and a parent since 1996, and during the years I have accumulated lots of experience in both arenas. My husband and I got married and we established our Dynamic Family Home in 2000. Since then we’ve had three more children together. This is my DFH situation, but in this day and age the possibilities for combination and variations are virtually limitless!

This site is all about the housing challenges of a dynamic family. Being an architect I tend to use my professional eye on our home – always looking to improve and adjust. Also there is cleaning, decluttering and logistical issues to be addressed. I can’t imagine how I would have managed this fairly complex situation without my professional background with problem-solving and design. So I’m thinking; maybe I can share some of my experience with you!

In my professional life I have worked several years in the municipality of the town where I live. The same year I got married I switched over to a private practice – and I’m astonished at how relevant the one “side” is to the other. Since then I’ve also been my own architect on several occasions in our present and previous home. In 2010 I launched the website Dynamic Family Home; where I write about my family life, our home improvement projects, and my profession as an architect. This merging of three different arenas of my life has led me to quit my job and become a full time stay at home housewife and freelance architect.

Being my own architect has its perks as I take care of all the paperwork and draw out the solutions just as I want them. In our previous home we utilized every inch of the house thanks to our blossoming family. When our third (fourth, fifth – according to how you count) child came along, we realized that we needed a bigger house. I’ve been really excited about the opportunity to adjust our new home to suit our needs on almost every level! And whatever still doesn’t fit – I’m working on it! Stick with me and you’ll be constantly updated on every housing hurdle we overcome.

Let me introduce the Circus-family!

So you see; he had a child and I had a child; we got married and had three more children. Initially we moved into a place big enough for the four of us; then we start having children and eventually we moved into our FULL SCALE Dynamic Family Home!

Please feel free to browse around my site to check out anything of interest to you. If you can’t find the answer to any general question you have, you are welcome to ask the architect, or get a consultation, and I will do my best to solve any Dynamic Family Home related problems.
