Starting off the new year as a full time, stay at home; housekeeper, blogger and freelance architect (yeah me) I have plenty of time to kick-start the project in the basement (uuups, too late for that, I promised to have it finished by New Year’s!).
Our den is now looking like this:
So you see, there is no more postponing this project! The natural place to start is by getting rid of the junk. I’d really like to fill up the hanger and drive to the junkyard with it, to make room for new shelves and boxes as described in this post.
Oh well, I guess it can wait…

Ha ha! I didn’t realize you lived in the arctic circle!
You’re right. This one will have to wait.
Yes indeed while Mother Earth sleeps under her snowy mantle we become impatient for the awakening of spring. But the irritation we feel would be nothing compared to the actual distress we would experience without that snowy mantle that recharhes the underground aquifera andas well as streams, rivers and lakes. That is what I remind myself all winter long as buckets of water are poured on the west coast for months on end. And I also inject memories of dry wells in summer and the distress that causes to the envitonment, birds, wildflife, farm animals as well as, people.
I’m tired of fretting over what I can’t do so I’m trying to focus on what I can do. Not to worry you will get the job done in the spring and the result will be great.
Yokes! Despite its picture postcard appeal, snow is not my favorite sight. So far we’ve had very little, and I’m hoping it stays that way.
Janene – Haha, I am waiting all right!
Timethief – You are so right. Also spring wouldn’t be the same without the longing for it…
Nothingprofound – Lucky you!
We have had lots and lots and lots of snow in England, in fact, I think we have someone else’s share! As for your den – takes me back to when my kids were younger and we had a playroom. Once a month I would set aside a day and straighten it all out, put everything back in the proper boxes, on the shelves… but it was a never-ending task. As soon as I got it tidied, the little horrors would set about making it a bomb site again! My suggestion? Close the door on it until Spring!
Juliana – you certainly didn’t get our share, as you see.
Close the door? It sounds very tempting, now that I’ve finally gotten it looking like a room again (next post will show this). But they enjoy playing there so much, and I must admit I enjoy the peace and quiet in the rest of the house when they’re down there… Thanks! I always appreciate hearing about others kids making bomb sites in their house as well! lol.
