Living with kids while renovating.
Kids will leave their mark wherever they go and they go everywhere. While we’re renovating the storage area by the stairway the stuff that used to be there is temporarily stored in the den (picture to the left shows what this looks like at present). This is a room where the kids go whenever they want to horse around and be really loud; as it is out of the way of weary Dynamic parent ears! As you can see we have not succeeded in closing the basement off – which would be extra hard right now because the door is missing… I am very thankful for the summertime activities that are mostly outdoors, or this would have been a bigger problem.
While renovating your house with kids living in it you should probably prepare yourself for some dirt being dragged around the house. You will however reduce this problem immensely by limiting your renovation to one area at a time. (The rest of our house actually functions pretty much as normal.) If at all possible the area you’re renovating should be separated from the household activities. Still you better make sure things like power-tools, nails and such, aren’t laying around for those bare feet to find.

Amiable post and this enter helped me alot in my college assignement. Thank you on your information.
My cousin recommended this blog and she was totally right keep up the fantastic work!
Two years ago my two oldest ones needed to be contained away from our basement renovation. I unhinged and borrowed Mom’s flexible wooden gate that used to keep us from tumbling down the stairs around that age. It was worth the little effort to install it again down stairs in the door way to the finished part. To prevent curiosity, rather than dust, we tacked a double layer of painters plastic over the entrance behind the gate to really blur the view.
Great suggestions, Janene. I’m afraid my kids would consider it an added thrill, to conquer the hindrances we put up. But I’ll consider doing something similar with the next big project. Thanks for commenting.
